“The worst phrase in any business…..”

·

, ,

I love the motor industry. I loved my job. I love cars. I love helping people.

However this is the worst words that any manager or leader can utter, “but we have always done it that way.”

The world has changed, the technology has changed, people have changed, cars have changed.

The businesses that seem to be having the most success are the ones who are not afraid of change. They see that the customer expectation has evolved. They see that employees want different things than what generations before wanted. Proactive companies embrace technological advancements rather than ignoring them.

“But we have always done it that way”

Netflix started by posting DVD’s to their customers. It’s a very famous story and I remember using that service many years ago. They have embraced change, looked at what technology they can use and how customers will want to pay for a different service than the one they first offered all those years ago. If Netflix still posted out DVD’s today rather than streaming would they will the global powerhouse that they are now?

Certainly not in my opinion.

Another very famous story is the demise of Blockbuster. In a nutshell they didn’t see the opportunities in new technology. They didn’t see that customer expectation was changing. They didn’t survive the changes in their market.

So if you are a business leader right now how are you thinking about the future of your business?

What technology can you embrace to improve your customers experience?

What do your customers want?

What are your competitors doing differently?

What do your team members want to keep them engaged?

How are you recruiting, training and engaging the best people in this changing world?

Or are you thinking that nothing needs to change as we have always done it that way?

There are a lot of “quick wins” to engage and motivate your team, but you have to accept change……

If you are ready to do this and you want to see the difference a motivated team can make, drop me a message, I can help you.
